PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The Dialysis RN works with the Nephrology medical practitioners to provide dialysis related high-quality care to patients in need of renal replacement therapy. The Dialysis Nurse collaborates closely with medical practitioners, dieticians, social workers, and vascular access departments to meet the needs of the patient during dialysis treatments.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Duty 1: The Dialysis RN will demonstrate the ability to be self-directed and function independently in the dialysis setting.

Duty 2: The Dialysis RN demonstrates the competent skills to perform IHD and SLED treatments as per nephrologist orders and shall provide appropriate assessment, evaluation, ongoing monitoring and interventions per facility policies and procedures.

Duty 3: The Dialysis RN will facilitate interdisciplinary communication in delivering patient care in a timely fashion.

Duty 4: The Dialysis RN will demonstrate outstanding communication and education skills to patients ensuring understanding, comfort, safety, and privacy.

Duty 5: The Dialysis RN will assist in preparing dialysis treatment areas with needed supplies prior to starting treatments and demonstrates knowledge of nursing procedures and nursing care as it relates to renal replacement therapy.

Duty 6: The Dialysis RN ensures dialysis machines and equipment are maintained in good working order per policy.

Duty 7: The Dialysis RN strictly adheres to all infection prevention practices and demonstrates best practice principles for dialysis vascular access care.

Duty 8: The Dialysis RN adheres to all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations as they pertain to the department and/or regulatory agencies.


Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate school of nursing and a current state license to practice nursing required.
  • Current BCLS certification is required and must be maintained. ACLS may also be required depending on the local facility policies.
  • Required 1-2 years of nursing experience with a minimum of 1-2 years in Dialysis nursing preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge.
  • Must be able to safely operate dialysis machines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and observation skills.
  • Required ability to calmly implement patient interventions during high stress, critical situations.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient s requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area s policies and procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred graduate of an approved Bachelor school of nursing and a current state license to practice nursing.
  • Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent activities in walking, sitting, lifting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and standing. The associate will be required to lift 50 pounds or more. This position requires individuals to reach work above the shoulders. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. Individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks.

This position is classified at risk for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.).

Minimum Salary: $32.0

Maximum Salary: $32.0

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
